LONDON, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The British Olympic Association (BOA) said on Tuesday that the Alpine ski team will compete in the Vancouver Winter Olympics although the British Ski and Snowboard Federation (BSSF) is now facing some financial problems.

The BSSF for months has been plagued by the lack of money as the winter sport is less popular in the country.

BOA's Chief Executive Andy Hunt said: If they can't survive, we will make sure that we do everything possible to take the athletes to the Games. I will give a commitment that we will take those athletes to the Games.

When asked about the goal towards the Vancouver Games, Hunt said: Our goal is to do better than in Turin. Shelley Rodman won fantastic silver on Skelton in Turin. But what our focus is our athletes are really achieving their personal best.

The BOA announced another 19 athletes on Tuesday, making the roster a total of 43, who will compete in 11 events of six sports in Vancouver.

Women's 500m speed skater Sarah Lindsay said: My goal is for medal this time. Chinese girl Meng Wang is maybe four years unbeaten, so she is very strong. I think after that, the silver and bronze medal are very open. So maybe ten people are able to take the silver and bronzes. But unless she makes some mistakes, I think the gold is for Meng Wang from China.
