WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Kevin Love will miss Minnesota Timberwolves' games for up to eight weeks after suffering a hand injury during a morning workout on Wednesday, said the NBA club.
The NBA forward broke the third and fourth metacarpal of his right hand and will be examined by a hand specialist on Thursday.
As a two-time All-Star, Love was ranked fourth in the league in scoring last season with 26.0 points a game and was second in rebounds at 13.3 a game and minutes played at 39 per game.
With just two weeks before the start of the new NBA season, Love's out will be a setback for the Timberwolves, who went 26-40 last season, 10 games behind Utah for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
The team won three of four pre-season games this month.
