BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday exchanged New Year greetings.
In his message, President Xi extended his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Putin and the Russian people on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, saying the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination maintained at a high level in 2015.
The two sides jointly held activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, launched cooperation on integrating the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt with that of the Eurasian Economic Union, deepened people-to-people exchanges, especially among the youth, and cooperated closely on international affairs, Xi said.
The president also said the two countries have enjoyed fruitful achievements in cooperation in various fields that have advanced development of the two nations as well as peace and development of the whole world, injecting positive energy into the construction of new-type international relations featuring cooperation and win-win situation.
Meanwhile, President Xi expressed the hope that the two countries will join hands in the new year to carry on their traditional friendship, enhance mutual political trust and expand mutual support, turning the advantages from their high-level political ties into more mutually-beneficial and win-win cooperation results to improve the well-being of peoples of the two countries and beyond.
Putin said in his message that Russia and China have witnessed a series of major events in their relations over the past year.
He noted that high-level meetings between the two countries have given a powerful impetus to the expansion of their comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
The joint commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Second World War has consolidated the traditional friendship between the two peoples, he said.
He also expressed the hope that the two sides will continue to keep close exchanges and cooperation to further the overall development of the Russia-China ties.
