ISLAMABAD, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed and 43 others injured when a bomb exploded at a bus stop in Pakistan's east Multan city on Sunday night, officials said.

Azhar Akram, Central Police Officer (CPO), said that the explosion happened at Vehari Chowk area of Multan, a district located in the country's east Punjab Province.

He said that the police have recovered a suspected body from the blast site which has been sent for DNA test and thumb impression verification.

The injured people have been shifted to Nishtar Hospital Multan, where at least 11 of them are in critical condition, the CPO said.

There are contradictory reports about the blast as the District Commissioner officer, Zahid Saleem Gondal, said that the blast took place when a rickshaw hit into a motorbike coming from opposite direction and it seems that the motorbike rider was moving the explosive materials to somewhere but they accidently went off.

Another police official said that the bomb was placed in a bag which was exploded by a remote controlled blast.

The CPO said that the bomb disposal unit and police are investigating about the nature of blast from the both perspectives.

Five rickshaws, a car, two motorbikes and two shops were destroyed in the blast.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The country's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the blast and directed hospital administration to provide best possible medical facilities to the injured people.

The DCO Multan, on behalf of Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, has announced 500,000 million rupees (5,000 U.S. dollars) to the heirs of each of the deceased person as compensation.
